How To Excel in College Math and Science Courses for Engineering Studies
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!
From my YouTube channel, I shared my experience on how chose to study Civil Engineering in college. One of my subscribers has requested me to share tips on how to excel in Math and Science classes since they really want to be a Civil Engineer as their future career.
So, I'm very excited to share my story with you all!
As an engineering student of any field, there are required math and science classes that you must take, such as the following courses:
Math Courses (Examples):
Once, I aligned my focus back onto my studies and I held onto the fact that I could not make any grade less than a "C+" in any more courses!
How I Succeeded in Math & Science Courses
It is very important to stay focus in these core classes because they will show up again, in your future Civil Engineering courses!
I hope these tips were helpful for anyone who is taking math and science courses as an engineering student.
Thank you so much for reading the blog post and I will see you in the next one!

So, I'm very excited to share my story with you all!
As an engineering student of any field, there are required math and science classes that you must take, such as the following courses:
Math Courses (Examples):
- Pre-Calculus
- Calculus I, II, & III
- Probability & Statistics
- Linear Algebra
- Differential Equations
- Chemistry I and II
- Physics I and II (Calculus-based)
Enduring the challenges that come with this Journey!!
At the beginning of my studies, I was pretty intimidated by the math and science classes that I enrolled in. To be truthfully honest I didn't do as well as I hoped, because I didn't give the classes 100% of my effort.
Yes, I was excited to be in school and study engineering, but I allowed too many distractions to keep me from giving my true hardcore focus on my studies.
After experiencing my first "C" in Pre-calc and a "D" in Calculus I, I had to stop and consider my ways on what I did that allowed me to get these grades.
Because I had to retake Calculus I in which I was not too happy about that!!ðŸ˜
Align your Focus!

Once, I aligned my focus back onto my studies and I held onto the fact that I could not make any grade less than a "C+" in any more courses!
This was the actual requirement to proceed into the next level of engineering courses.
How I Succeeded in Math & Science Courses
In most Math courses, many concepts and theories are presented.
- Do not focus too heavily on the theories.
- Focus on and understand the concepts.
If the instructor teaches at a quick pace, ask permission to record the audio of the lecture.
- Important verbal notes can be forgotten while you are writing in class.
- This will be helpful to fill in any blanks that you may have in your notes.
Solve problems, repeatedly!
- Solving different problems with the right approaches can help you retain the concept better.
- Keep doing this until it becomes second nature to you!
Be Creative with your Notes to Retain the Information!
- I am personally a Visual Learner.
- Draw out the problems and concepts
- Use different colors in your notes
- Use different letterings
Look for External Resources if you still feel confused in your class!
- Find videos that explain concepts, clearly
- Find a tutor (on-campus or online)
It is very important to stay focus in these core classes because they will show up again, in your future Civil Engineering courses!
I hope these tips were helpful for anyone who is taking math and science courses as an engineering student.
These classes may feel challenging now, but YOU WILL SUCCEED in them!
Thank you so much for reading the blog post and I will see you in the next one!
